At-Home Pet Care was founded by Barbara R.
(known as Max) in 1993, as she completed her M.B.A at U.R.I.
She combined her love of all animals with an untraditional career,
and wrote a business plan for pet sitting.
After completion of her degree, she opted
to continue the
pet sitting business in lieu of engineering. A member of
the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, Max
now serves as President of the Southern New England
Professional Pet Services Association, SNEPPS.
SNEPPS has
very strict requirements for membership.
Each pet sitter must:
 |
Be in business for at least six
months
|
 |
Be bonded and insured
|
 |
Have at least 3 letters of recommendation
from professionals in the industry (veterinarians, groomers,
etc)
|
 |
Have three client recommendations.
|
Each member is then carefully interviewed
and screened before acceptance by experienced, well-respected,
professional pet sitters.
Max and her family have 7 animals, including
a horse, 3 dogs, and 3 cats. She has a wealth of resources for
pets, from vets to groomers to all-natural food to homeopathic
remedies to animal telepathy.
Just ask.
